Hitachi Power Tools Introduces a New 4-1/2" Grinder, the G12SA3

Toronto, ON., September 12, 2006 – Hitachi Power Tools today launched a new addition to the 4-1/2” disc grinder series. The new G12SA3 grinder offers increased power input and max output, increased overload durability and improved wear resistance of the armature coil as compared to its predecessor, the G12SA2. These improvements are ideal for the professional who needs a tool that will deliver when deburring diecast products, finishing metal surfaces, grinding welds and torch cut surfaces and grooving and cutting concrete, all at a competitive price.
Hitachi’s G12SA3 grinder delivers a powerful 8 Amps with 910 Watts of input power and a class leading 1,900 Watts of output power to grind through the toughest applications with ease. Due to an improved cooling mechanism and the high powered motor, this grinder achieves the highest overload durability in its class. This translates into greater working efficiency and a higher resistance to burnout. Improved dust protection for the motor resists wear on the armature and field coils for longer tool life under the usual harsh conditions.
The on/off switch is center mounted on top of the grinder and allows the user to comfortably operate the tool whether right or left handed. A one-touch quick off mechanism provides added safety. Once the lock-on feature is activated on the power switch- it only takes one touch of the users thumb to shut the tool off entirely. An easy-to-manipulate spindle lock located at the front of the grinder makes it simple to change out the accessories as needed. It comes equipped with a side handle that projects forward 70 degrees instead of 90 degrees to the side for a more comfortable and secure position when using the grinder for long stretches of time. The side handle can be attached to the right or the left depending upon user preference.
The compact design and short body facilitates maneuverability and ease of use on any worksite. The tool is designed to draw air in for cooling from the rear of the grinder and discharge it from the front keeping it out of the users face. The G12SA3 takes on Hitachi’s signature “inspire” appearance and reflects the ergonomic design being implemented by Hitachi Power Tools since 2004. These new ergonomic considerations improve the feel and comfort when handling the tool for lengths of time, not only reducing user fatigue and repetitive stress injuries but also providing more control during use.
