Hitachi Announces its 18V Professional Lithium Ion Tool Platform
Hitachi Power Tools today announced the launch of its new series of Lithium Ion battery powered tools. The series is designed with a slide-type Lithium Ion battery pack that eliminates the post design traditionally inserted into the tools handle. The new slide type battery tools feature a more ergonomic handle for increased comfort and control with all the benefits of Lithium Ion battery power. The tools in this series were designed with the professional in mind, and are compatible with Hitachi’s popular compact pro and brushless cordless tool battery systems for even more value across the line.
New Drills and Drivers:
½” Driver Drill (DS18DSDL) – Also available without batteries (DS18DSDLP4)
½” Hammer Drill (DV18DSDL) – Also available without batteries (DV18DSDLP4)
¼” Impact Driver (WH18DSDL) – Also available without batteries (WH18DSDLP4)
½” Impact Wrench (WR18DSDL) – Also available without batteries (WR18DSDLP4)
Featuring aluminum gear cases for maximum durability and strength against heat buildup, the DSDL series of drills and drivers are designed with industrial grade 2-piece motors that deliver professional grade power designed to handle the toughest jobs. Convenient LED lighting is incorporated for visibility in dark or enclosed work spaces. Metal belt hooks keep the tools close at hand. Externally accessible carbon brushes allow for minimal downtime and easy maintenance. The tools are comfortable to use for extended periods thanks to the soft, ergonomic grips and slim handle designs. They come with two 3.0Ah Lithium Ion slide type batteries and Lifetime Lithium Ion tool warranties, 2-year Lithium Ion battery warranties and 1-year Lithium Ion charger warranties.
The ½” Driver Drill (DS18DSDL) produces up to 814 in-lbs of torque and weighs only 4.6 lbs. It is equipped with a single sleeve ratcheting all-metal keyless ½” chuck for maximum bit grip and easy bit changes. At the base of the chuck is the 22-position clutch with drill mode so the torque can be properly matched to the application. The two-speed gearing operates at a low speed of 0-350 RPM (ideal for driving fasteners) and in high speed at 0-1,600 RPM (ideal for drilling applications). A convenient side handle is included for 360° leverage when needed.
The ½” Hammer Drill (DV18DSDL) produces up to 814 in-lbs of torque and weighs only 4.8 lbs. It is equipped with a single sleeve ratcheting all-metal keyless ½” chuck for easy bit changes that includes carbide inserts for maximum bit grip when hammering into concrete materials. At the base of the chuck is the 22-position clutch with both a drill mode and hammer mode so the torque can be properly matched to the application. The two-speed gearing operates at a low speed of 0-400 RPM (ideal for driving fasteners) and in high speed at 0-1,800 RPM or 0-27,000 IPM (ideal for drilling applications). A convenient side handle is included for 360° leverage when needed.
The 1/4” Impact Driver (WH18DSDL) produces up to 1510 in-lbs of torque and weighs only 3.7 lbs. It is equipped with a ¼” hex quick change chuck for fast and easy bit replacements. A two-step power switch alternates between full and power saving modes, which is ideal for doing repetitive jobs that don’t require full output. It also allows users to work faster by preventing full throttle when quickly moving from work piece to work piece when the applications don’t call for it. The impact driver delivers a no-load speed of 0-2,600 RPM and an impact rate between 0-3,200 BPM.
The 1/2” Impact Wrench (WR18DSDL) produces up to 188 ft-lbs of torque and weighs only 3.7 lbs. It is equipped with a 1/2” square drive for fast and easy socket replacements.
Additional New Tools:
4-1/2” Angle Grinder (G18DSLP4) –Available without batteries only
SDS Plus Rotary Hammer (DH18DSLP4) – Available without batteries only
Hand Vacuum (R18DSLP4) – Available without batteries only
The 4-½” Angle Grinder (G18DSLP4) features a powerful motor that provides the speed and torque to produce more work per charge. It can be used to cut rebar or pipe, groove stone or concrete, or grind metal and masonry when a corded tool is not an option. The small diameter grip is covered in soft elastomer for a slip resistant hold that reduces fatigue. An over current protection circuit shuts down the Lithium Ion battery power in the event of overload, reducing the risk of causing permanent motor damage. Zero voltage safety reset prevents accidental start up when inserting a charged battery for added safety. This cordless grinder is lightweight at only 4.0 lbs and comes with a side handle, grinding wheel, spanner wrench and 1-year warranty.
The SDS Plus Rotary Hammer (DH18DSLP4) is designed for optimal performance when drilling holes for the installation of concrete anchors or overhead drilling. It features a two-step power switch. Power mode is designed for fast and efficient drilling in larger diameters, while save mode conserves battery power and prevents bending of small diameter bits. Using an electro-pneumatic mechanism to produce 1 ft-lb of impact energy, this tool can drill up to 105 holes on one charge (1/4” x 1/4”). A factory set slip clutch protects the user and the gears in the event of a bound bit, while the idle strike restrictor prevents no-load hammering, eliminating unnecessary wear on integral parts. A bright base mounted LED light illuminates dimly lit workspaces, and changing out accessories is fast and secure with the quick bit insert. Carbon brushes are externally accessible for quick and easy replacement and maintenance. This cordless rotary hammer is lightweight at only 5.1 lbs and comes with a side handle, depth gauge and 1-year warranty.
The Handheld Vacuum (R18DSLP4) features impressive suction power for fast and efficient cleaning for any workshop or home. At only 3.3 lbs and just under 17” in length, this powerful handheld vacuum features a convenient slide lock-on switch for continuous use to reduce fatigue. It accepts a 3.0Ah Lithium Ion slide-type battery (not included) that provides up to 29 minutes of continuous use. The large capacity (22oz) translucent dust catch makes it easy to view when the unit needs to be emptied. This vacuum is capable of collecting both wet and dry debris. It comes with a brush, crevice and squeegee nozzles along with a 1-year warranty.
